Sega Eyes Saturn Classics As Potential Digital Re-Releases

Pitted against PlayStation and the N64, the Saturn era represented years of doom and gloom for Sega. Rocky stint aside, a sizable amount of gems were produced for the platform. Astal, Panzer Dragoon, and NiGHTS into Dreams just to name a few. With the company already committed to re-releasing Dreamcast hits on Xbox Live Arcade and PSN, many long-time Sega fans have questioned if similar treatment will be given to the oft-overlooked Saturn.
To put it bluntly, it’s a possibility. In an interview with Japanese site Impress Watch, Yosuke Okunari, producer of Sega’s upcoming digital Dreamcast revivals, says the company is considering to port Saturn offerings over.
“What we announced this time is a project where we will have consecutive releases of titles that were debuted on Dreamcast,” noted Okunari. He added, “Separate from this, we’re of course thinking about ports of Saturn games.”
So, there you have it. There’s hope. The initial batch of Dreamcast titles are scheduled to drop this fall, beginning with Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi.
