Sony Preps More HD Enhanced Classics for PS3

Looks as if God of War Collection and the forthcoming Sly Cooper Collection are only the start of Sony’s plans to give PS2 hits the PS3 port treatment with remastered HD visuals.

Speaking with IGN, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida revealed that the company intends to bring more classics into a new era, a move that follows positive reception of last year’s God of War Collection.

Due out this November worldwide, the European box art for Sly Cooper Collection features a “Classics HD” banner at the top, presumably a label that Sony intends to place future PS2 to PS3 HD conversions under. With the myriad of PS2 titles out there, there’s no telling what we might see next. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater? Ico? One can hope.

Backward support would be nicer...

This way they give try to make money on remastered versions of the PS2 classics... There is only ONE advantage in this, you won't play PS2 with sucky graphics... PS2 on a HDTV makes my eyes bleed D:

Same. I play over component on a TV with a 1440x900 panel and my god it looks awful. A custom ps2 emu for ps3, not just backwards compatibility, would be a better implementation of playing ps2 games on ps3 but of course, that doesn't make Sony any money. xD

They usually don't give away stuff like that, unfortunately for us :(xD

Yeah, good point - still, i have over 60 quality ps2 titles and the thought of buying them all again kinda grates a bit.
