Konami Forecasts Brisk Sales for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

Konami’s Metal Gear Solid franchise is the definition of a sales juggernaut. Solid Snake is a household name that needs no introduction. It’s a given, any title that features the cig-touting protagonist will sell by the millions these days. So what of Snake’s first Kojima-helmed portable outing, Peace Walker?
According to Konami CEO Fumiaki Tanaka, the company is forecasting sales figures to the tune of 3 million units globally. That would put it up there with Monster Hunter as one of the top-selling franchises on PSP, and deservingly so.
In an interview with Japanese publication Nikkei, conducted ahead of the domestic June release of Peace Walker, Tanaka said that sales were falling in line with expectations. Assuming Western sales are moving along just as steadily, then chances are the 3 million target will be met. We’ll find out when NPD releases its figures next month.
