Publisher 2K Games sends word that Civilization V, the fifth installment in Sid Meier’s long-running tactical franchise, will hit PC in all its hexagonal glory on September 21. An international release will follow on September 24.
Developed by Firaxis Games, Civ V marks a fresh take on a tried and true franchise, featuring an all-new underlying engine that allows for lush realistic landscapes and “deeper diplomatic interactions” on the battlefield.
Building upon the community aspect in previous entries, Civ V will allow players to distribute content such as custom maps and compete against each other, an aspect that 2K says is poised to “[mark] a new era that will forever change the one more turn addiction of the franchise.”
