Back in March, developer Volition revealed that it is working on another installment in its demolition-charged Red Faction franchise. Today, that title was announced as Red Faction: Armageddon.
According to publisher THQ, Armageddon will leverage Volition’s souped-up Geo-Mod 2.0 engine, offering “never-before-seen physics-based weaponry that redefines gameplay in the shooter genre.” While the bulk of its predecessor — Red Faction: Guerrilla — took place outdoors in the open, Armageddon will place focus on structurally wrecking havoc beneath the surface. Environments ripe for destruction range from lava tubes to ice caves.
Red Faction: Armageddon is slated for a March 2011 on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Look for more details alongside possible gameplay footage at E3.
