Rumor: Project Natal To Carry Hefty $149 Price Tag

Microsoft’s free-motion camera codenamed Natal undoubtedly has mass market appeal, but we’re still in the dark over a key factor to mainstream success: the price.
According to a “trusted source” close to UK-based publication Edge, the well-publicized device is poised to launch this October at a suggested retail price of $150. It will also be available in an alternate bundle package – one that includes the base Xbox 360 hardware for $300. We’re told this bundle is a variant of the Arcade configuration as well, meaning no internal hard drive is included.
Although one could argue that Natal offers more than its competing solutions from a functional standpoint, at $149 the standalone offering may be a tough sell, even with strong third-party support. Hopefully this is all hearsay and an official, more palatable price will be announced at E3. Crossing our fingers. And toes.
