Iwata: 3D Optional On Nintendo 3DS For End Users

As its name implies, the main attraction of the Nintendo 3DS is 3D. Stereosopic 3D without glasses, to be more specific. Interestingly enough, this feature can be disabled at will, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata revealed during the company’s year-end financial results briefing broadcast earlier today.
Iwata says Nintendo is making strides to ensure that 3DS users can seamlessly switch between a 2D and 3D image. It’s a sound move, one that will shield the company from any potential lawsuits over rampant health concerns of 3D tech in prolonged sessions of usage.
With that said, a question looms. Provided that the choice to use this tech is purely up to the end-user, will Nintendo require that developers take advantage of the technology for each 3DS title? Iwata did not elaborate further.
