Old PSP Model To Be Phased Out

by Mike Bendel on July 13, 2007 @ 10:14 pm

Much like the PlayStation 3 60GB model that’s getting phased out, Sony will also be halting production on the PSPhat. Speaking to GI.biz, SCEA Senior PR Manager Patrick Seybold has shed light on the company’s plans for the older PSP model:

The newly designed PSP will replace the original PSP design starting in September with the $169.99 PSP Core Pack and the $199.99 Daxter PSP Entertainment Pack.

This doesn’t mean Sony won’t support the older model anymore, no. Just that Sony will soon be discontinuing production, which isn’t much of a surprise to be honest.

shadowthor says:

don't regret, the new psp might not be able to run homebrew, till an exploit is found and that can be quite a while.

I wonder the fw already release will they work on the new model.

Cheezeball99 says:

It's very likely that they won't. I'm sure all of the core components of the FW will be different to accomodate the new PSP's features 'n' such, but if 3.60M33 comes out I'm sure it will be compatible with the new one, obviously. But this will take alot more hacking 'n' stuff.
