Outspoken Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has called the formation of Respawn Entertainment by fired Infinity Ward co-founders Jason West and Vince Zampella as the “ultimate screw you” to Activision.

This is the ultimate screw-you to Activision — and the ultimate screw-you to EA. By going to EA now and getting paid up, they say, ‘you’re finally paying us what we’re due. EA are being the bigger people here. They’re not wounded at all by the fact that they lost these guys and the Medal of Honor brand deteriorated.

Additionally, Pachter suspects that EA will leverage the prestige associated with the Modern Warfare brand to their advantage when marketing future efforts from Respawn. “It is perfectly legal to advertise ‘from the people who brought you Modern Warfare 2,'” he notes.

Formation of the EA-endorsed studio was announced just yesterday. West and Zampella currently are on the prowl for talent.
