Ousted Infinity Ward Co-Founders Join Forces With EA, Form Respawn Entertainment

EA today announced that it joined forces with ousted Infinity Ward co-founders Jason West and Vince Zampella, the two figureheads at the center of an ongoing legal battle with Activision. The partnership has led to the formation of an all-new startup called Respawn Entertainment.

In addition to giving the duo an unparalleled amount of creative freedom, EA says Respawn will retain full rights to all content that it develops. EA, for its part, will handle publishing and distribution duties for the studio.

“We’re excited,” added Jason West, President of Respawn Entertainment. “Now that the team is in control of the games and brands, we can ensure that the fans are treated as well as they deserve.”

Currently in the process of recruiting “a world-class team of designers, artists and engineers,” those interested in joining the ranks of Respawn can drop them at line at jobs@respawn.com. An official site has also launched. While said site is light on content at the moment, expect more information “soon.”

Best of luck to two well creative minds with all the freedom and authority over their products that they could hope for from the sounds of things. Anxious to see what Respawn comes out with first!
