Rumor: Insomniac Games Branching Out Towards Multiple Platforms

To date, the independently-ran Insomniac Games has remained as a staunch supporter of Sony and its PlayStation brand. Their loyalty may overstep those bounds in the not so distant future, however, as IGN reportedly has it on good authority that Insomniac intends to branch out and develop titles on platforms outside of Sony’s platform landscape. These plans could very well involve Xbox 360 and Wii.
If true, there’s no concrete word on what the gang at Insomniac could have in store for multiple platforms. Back in November of 2008, the developer opened a North Carolina-based studio.
While we’re not aware of the specifics regarding Sony’s contractual agreement with Insomniac, there’s a good chance they have a tight leash on the Ratchet and Resistance brands. Seeing those make the jump would be highly unlikely to say the least. A new IP sounds like a safer bet.
