Shaun White Getting Self Titled Skateboarding Game Courtesy Of Ubisoft

Ubisoft is taking Olympic gold medalist Shaun White into the virtual skateboarding genre with Shaun White: Skateboarding. While Shaun is perhaps best known for his prowess in the extreme sport of snowboarding, he isn’t too shabby of a skateboarder either, having walked away with the prestigious honorary achievement of a gold medal during both the Summer and Winter X Games.

“I can’t describe how excited I am about the skateboard game,” said Shaun White. “We’ve been working on it for a while now and it’s ready to melt minds.”

Melt minds? We’re sold. In all seriousness, though, this could prove to be a worthy competitor to EA’s Skate. Not to mention, given that the Tony Hawk franchise has seemingly been stuck in a rut ever since it left Neversoft’s hands, fresh attempts to break into this sport are more than welcomed.

unless it utilizes a flick it system like skate....i dont see how they are gonna compete. in all honesty tony hawks franchise had a good idea with the board accessory to keep it new and compete with skate but alas it sucks still. I talked to Tony Hawk when he came into my work and had told him that skate's controls are killing his game sales since nobody wants to just mash buttons anymore. Looks like he listened....but id still buy skate over any other skate game. Shawn White's game better have some new innovative shit in it or i forsee it being in the bargain bin before too long =)
