With its 256-man first person shooter MAG finished and out the door, developer Zipper Interactive is heading back to work on the franchise largely responsible for their claim to fame. SOCOM 4 is slated for release exclusively on PlayStation 3 this fall, Sony announced today.
Sony dropped a few details on the fourth installment, revealing that it will take place in a “important South Asian country,” where a rogue militant and his cohorts have seized operational control. Players assume the role of an Ops Com tactical specialist tasked with putting an end to the enemy’s agenda by any means necessary. Players will trek through hostile jungles and insurgent-laden urban environments in their pursuit.
In addition to an intense single player campaign, SOCOM 4 will support up to 32 players online in a single multiplayer session via PlayStation Network.
