Capcom Omits Content In Lost Planet 2 Due To DVD Space Restrictions

At around 8.5GB, the size of a dual-layered DVD disc is sufficient for majority of Xbox 360 titles today. Of course, there’s a select few that go beyond this limit and have shipped on multiple discs. Blue Dragon comes to mind.
Lost Planet 2 is the latest big-hitter to eclipse the total capacity offered by DVD, but publisher Capcom is refraining from taking the multi-disc route. Instead, according to producer Jun Takeuchi, the company has opted to omit certain bits of content with intentions of making it available as DLC later on.
This time, truly, the content that was cut was significant. At the end, we had to wrestle with disc space. I think we could be able to add that content at a later date as downloadable content.
While there’s no word on what exactly this content entails, Takeuchi gives the impression that Capcom is omitting it from all versions of Lost Planet 2. Not only on 360 but also on PC and PS3. Only fair, right? We’re saying nothing.
Lost Planet 2 ships this coming May.
