Publisher 2K Games today announced that Sid Meier’s Civilization V is destined for a PC release this fall. As an all-new installment in the prolific strategy franchise, Civ V will feature a brand-new engine built from the ground-up, offering a new hexagon-based combat system, deeper diplomatic interactions, and an in-game community hub where players can share and exchange content amongst each other without having to leave the game.
Expanding on the tried and true formula of previous entries while introducing new elements such as a hex-based battlefield, developer Firaxis Games aims to deliver a experience that pushes the realism envelope, complete with fully animated leaders and the ability to attack enemy forces through means of ranged bombardment. Civ 5 will also boast extensive mod support, a long-standing tradition of the series.
