Pachter Believes Epic Regrets Signing Exclusivity Deal With Microsoft

Speaking in a recent GTTV Bonus Round segment, outspoken analyst Michael Pachter stated his belief that Epic Games regrets moving forward with an exclusivity deal that contractually bound its Gears of War franchise to the Xbox 360.
I think the Epic guys can’t wait until they can start doing multi-platform games.
With an ever-growing PS3 install base, Pachter believes that Epic is missing out on a significant amount of untapped revenue, further pointing out that Gears could sell within the ballpark of 3-4 million units on PS3. Certainly, the exclusivity factor allows Microsoft to allocate more in the way of marketing dollars. However, considering the Gears franchise has made a name for itself, one could argue that this benefit is no longer a critical factor in driving sales. Whether or not this period of exclusivity will continue for future installments is unknown at this point.
