Koller: PSN Expansion A Critical Undertaking For 2010
by Mike Bendel on January 20, 2010 @ 3:06 pm

SCEA director of hardware marketing John Koller has shed light on the company’s digital distribution plans for 2010, noting that Sony is heavily focusing their resources on PSN expansion this year. From its humble beginnings 2006, PSN has gradually emerged as robust online service and is now considered a “critical part” of business in Sony’s North American operation. Koller assures that we can expect more exclusive PSN titles in 2010 and a steady stream of PSOne classics to boot.
Expansion of the PlayStation Network will be a critical part of what we focus on this year. Digital distribution is something that will continually evolve, and we have the perfect platform in PSN to evolve along with it.
When asked if Sony has an answer to Microsoft’s “Games on Demand” initiative, Koller did not rule out the possibility, simply mentioning that the company has no plans to discuss at this time. Publishers currently have the choice of bringing full scale PS3 titles over as EA did with Burnout Paradise, but it is a practice far from mandated or encouraged for that matter.
