Gran Turismo 5 Delayed Yet Again, Release Date TBD

by Mike Bendel on January 12, 2010 @ 11:49 pm

Thought Gran Turismo 5′s long journey to completion was almost over? Think again, grasshopper! Originally scheduled for a March debut in Japan, Sony announced today that Polyphony Digital’s highly-anticipated racing sim has once again been delayed, this time indefinitely, as the official release makes no mention of a revised release target.

Sony did, however, note that a release date would be locked down at a later date. Evidently development isn’t far along enough yet for Polyphony to commit to another date at this point, which isn’t exactly reassuring. Last we heard, both parties were gunning for a Summer 2010 release in the West. It’s unclear at this point if the Japanese delay will hamper those plans, prompting the question of whether GT5 will make 2010 overseas or not. We shudder at the thought.
