IDW, one of the initial backers of Sony’s PSP Comic Book initiative has revealed that it is including audio commentary from artist Ben Templesmith in Wormwood. Sony says the ability to include optional sound tracks is open to all publishers. Even though inclusion is not mandatory, there’s a likely chance that we’ll see other studios take advantage of the feature and incorporate audio into comics in similar ways for added value.

Already open for business in Japan, the storefront is slated to launch on PSN later this month in U.S. and Europe with a target of over 500 offerings to begin with.

why do we have to waste money over digital comics when we could have the real thing...

the cons of digital comic book is that you cannot re-sell the digital copy of the book while in the real comic book its value would rise as older it gets like me i have the original release of the first comic book of spider man and i could re-sell it for $10,000 bucks so there you go!

For a number of people though, the convenience of having a portable version that never degrades is worth the trade off of never being able to resell.

oh no! another gimmick from the comic book industry. i remember during the 90s these gimmicks were chromium covers, hologram covers, & 10 variant covers just for one book.

why not release the audio commentary online for free in mp3 format? Then people will actually go out to buy the physical books in print to accompany the audio!
