Kim Swift, one of the key designers behind the development of Portal, has left Valve Software to join the ranks of Dark Void developer Airtight Games as project lead of yet to announced efforts. A DigiPen graduate, she was hired by Valve for her work on environmental puzzler Narbacular Drop. Kim cited personal reasons as the motivating factor behind her departure.

“I’ve learned so much and had some amazing experiences at Valve,” Kim said. “But when I heard I had the opportunity to work on innovative titles with my friends over at Airtight, I couldn’t pass it up.”

According to Airtight, Kim will “build and lead a team in the development of games aimed at a more diverse audience.”
