Konami Unveils Contra 4 DS

A classic shooting series is now finally getting a true sequel on the DS. Today Konami officially announced that Contra 4 is in development by WayForward Technologies for the Nintendo DS.
Marking the 20th anniversary of the franchise, Contra 4 will take place two years after the events of Contra III: The Alien Wars. Bill Rizer and Lance Bean are back in action, now facing off against an extraterrestrial menace known as the Black Viper. Alongside two hard-boiled mercenaries Mad Dog and Scorpion, the warriors must once again wage war against an entire army of invaders.
Thankfully, this new entry in the Contra series is not 3D, and will stay true to its 2D roots. The game will feature use of both DS screens, allowing for some intense boss battles. Additionally, Contra 4 is set to introduce a grappling hook accessory that lets players grab onto the environment directly above them.
Finally, Contra 4 will feature Co-op multiplayer gameplay. Nothing bad can be said about this. It’s Contra. 2D. Kicking ass.
