At a TGS panel earlier today, Epic Games president Michael Capps took the floor to announce that Epic Games has expanded its operation to Tokyo and at that the company is currently seeking to fill positions at the newly opened studio.
The Tokyo-based outfit will carry more of a follow-the-leader role, at least initially, providing support and quality assurance duties for Unreal Engine technologies to surrounding Japanese studios, such as Square Enix. Capps did not rule of out the possibility of new games from the studio, however, explaning that “we [Epic Games] are fanboys of Japanese gaming … We have deep respect for the long history of excellent Japanese games.”
