Publisher 2K Games today penciled in a firm release date for BioShock 2, announcing that the title will hit store shelves on February 9. That date accounts for all platforms, including PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Story-wise, the sequel is set ten years after the events that transpired in the original BioShock. Players assume the role of a prototype Big Daddy in search of a monster responsible for snatching little girls and bringing them to the forsaken subterranean city of Rapture.

Ozito says:

Isn't it supposed to say "10 years BEFORE" since the game is a prequel and the Big Daddy in the text is a prototype?

x3sphere says:

For the single player campaign, it's set ten years after the original. Somehow the prototype survived for that long. The multiplayer mode takes place ten years before.
