PS3 Slim Debut Causes Sales To Soar Past Expectations In Europe
by Mike Bendel on September 7, 2009 @ 5:04 pm

The introduction of the PS3 Slim has been a boon to hardware sales in Europe, with the latest figures from retail tracking service Chart-Track revealing a whopping 1000 percent increase compared to the previous week.
Speaking to GI.biz, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe sales director Mark Howsen said the figures were “ahead of expectations.” Clearly a staggering amount of folks were waiting for this price drop, as well as the revised Slim hardware. Assuming this strong performance continues, PS3 may just edge past the Wii in cumulative unit sales for September, at least in Europe. While that would no doubt be a victory for Sony, the bigger question is if sales will remain steady over the months to come.
