PS3 Slim 25 Percent Faster On DMC 4 Install

If you were looking for another reason to pick up the newly released PS3 model, here’s one: the installation speed of titles that require hard drive access outpaces that of the original. Eurogamer did a test between both configurations, concluding that on average the slim is 25 percent faster on a 20 minute Devil May Cry 4 install.
It’s an interesting statistic – while we don’t have a unit on hand, our guess is that Sony opted to include a 7200 RPM grade variant of the 120GB hard drive included. If that’s the case, any original PS3 could reach these speeds just by swapping out the pre-installed HDD for a faster drive.
