Sony’s motion-sensing technology that can take the form of virtual objects on-screen will hit retail in spring of next year, according to Sony bossman Kazuo Hirai in a TimesOnline interview. Not a surprise, considering Sony was quite clear during its E3 press conference that the tech was still in its infancy.

We are slating it for spring of next year. One of the things is that we just don’t want to put out the controller. We need a great software that supports the controller at launch. It’s something that we’ve been working on for the longest time.

Give consumers a reason to actually buy it with supported software, sounds like a plan. Couldn’t have thought of a better way to launch a product myself.
