Activision has struck yet another gold mine with the release of map pack numero three for Call of Duty: World at War, shifting over one million digital copies during its first week of availability per internal figures.
Combined, all map packs for the title total 6.5 million downloads, no doubt generating an impressive amount of revenue for Acti at $9.99 each.
“The support and enthusiasm from the Call of Duty: World at War online community is tremendous,” said Mark Lamia, studio head of Treyarch. “The team is appreciative that so many players from around the world have continued to enjoy the game and all of the downloadable content that we have produced.”
Will we see a fourth? With such strong sales, it’s possible, but at the same time unlikely, especially since all eyes are on Infinity Ward with Modern Warfare 2 right around the corner.
