It seems as if Sony will not break away from its multi-tiered SKU strategy with the PS3 Slim, as an FCC filing for model number has been CECH-2001B has been uncovered. According to specs detailed in the filing, this model packs a 250GB hard drive, double that of the standard 120GB included in the already announced CECH-2001A model.

Sony clearly intended to hide this filing from the public, as it was registered under a company called Sand Dollar Enterprise, Inc. Turns out the address of this “company” — if you can call it that — was registered to Sony Computer Entertainment. Sneaky, yes, but it didn’t stop prying internet eyes from uncovering the goods.

Presumably, this model will replace the 160GB Uncharted bundle that currently graces store shelves at $399. When it will hit is anyone’s guess, but during the holidays in a bundle configuration is a likely bet.
