After being tossed around for what seems like a eternity in rumor and speculation circles, Sony finally announced that the PS3 Slim is indeed real and will be available across retail by the first week of September. It’s dropping at different dates depending on region, but everyone will be able to purchase it by September 1.
The announcement comes along with the long-awaited confirmation of a PS3 price cut, which has also been rumored for quite some time now. Effectively immediately, Sony is allowing retailers to sell the hardware at reduced price of $299, or 299 Euro.
