Sony today announced a September 8 release date in North America for the Game of the Year edition of LittleBigPlanet, in addition to confirming a $59.99 price point.

As the winner of 15 GOTY awards across various publications, this edition features bouts of add-on content valued at nearly $30. Featuring seven packs in all, worthy of highlight is the Metal Gear Solid level pack and MGS-themed costumes. Sony has also hand-picked 18 user created levels and will be including them on the disc, complete with video interviews with the creator of each. Additionally, included in each copy of the GOTY is a special invite code to the forthcoming ModNation Racers Online Beta.

Considering the game has been out for a good while now, pricing it as a brand-new title lessens the value proposition to us, despite the inclusion of paid DLC. However, it was worth the $60 back then and still is, if not only for the sheer amount of replay value offered from the level builder and associated user created content.
