Phil Harrison No Longer Atari Prez
by Mike Bendel on May 29, 2009 @ 10:57 am

Former Sony exec Phil Harrison has bowed out as president over at Atari. The news follows the company’s decision to bolster its US operations and diverge from publishing directly in Europe.
Harrison isn’t leaving Atari entirely, however. He will continue to head up management and marketing duties, now as a “non-executive director.
Because of a shift of business operations to the US, Phil Harrison will move from the role of President to that of non-executive Director of the Group. As all Board members, he will continue to assist, support and guide the Company’s strategy.
Losing the title of “Directeur Général Délégué” sure sounds like a step down. Whether this move was voluntary or forced is unknown. At any rate, Harrison looks to still have the same level of input in upper level decisions as he did previously. For now, at least.
