50 Cent: Blood on the Sand Sales Flounder, Sells 1/12 Of Previous Title

Despite receiving higher marks in reviews than its predecessor, sales of 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand are floundering. Released last April, the celebrity-backed title has shifted 56,000 copies in the U.S. since its debut, according to NPD figures obtained by Kotaku. Comparatively, the previous installment pushed 681,000 units during the same timeframe, with life to date sales reaching an upwards of 1,123,000 units.
That’s a steep difference, especially considering the original only managed a 47 on Metacritic, while Blood on the Sand currently stands at 71. If you ever wanted proof that better reviews do not always translate to more sales, this is it.
Whatever the reason is for this sales drop-off, you can bet Activision is quite happy they sold it off to THQ when realigning their product portfolio. THQ, for its part, has yet to issue a comment on the figures.
