Amid news that Duke Nukem Forever developer 3DRealms is closing down, art director Tramell Isaac has went public with several images consisting of concept art and environmental showcase screenshots from the oft-delayed project.

Isaac joined 3D Realms in 2006 and led artistic production on DNF for nearly two years and nine months. Judging from a short blurb on his blog, work on the title was progressing smoothly up until now:

I worked with an extraordinary bunch of artists, designers, and programmers. You will all be missed. I know we will cross paths again.

Isaac is currently in search of a replacement job. All the best: we sincerely hope everything works out.

More imagery of what may never see the light of day can be found past the break.

It looks like Half-Life meets Doom, with an invasion of alien penises.

Honestly, I think the universe will continue on just fine without this game seeing the light of day. If anything it shows what's wrong with the industry right now: too much attention paid to graphics and recycled gameplay.
