Clip: Homebrew Running On PSP-3000

by Mike Bendel on May 4, 2009 @ 8:44 pm

The prospect of running homebrew applications on PSP-3000 units is inching closer — perhaps closer than you may think. Beta tester Granite today uploaded yet another video showing off HEN for firmware 5.03. Evidently, progress has advanced tremendously since we last saw it in action. Not only has compatibility extended to all current PSP models, the ability to launch homebrew straight from within the XMB interface has been implemented. And there’s proof: shown as successfully running in the clip is Genesis emulator DGEN and Jelly Car, an indie effort.

Although work on the project is wrapping up, an exact release date has yet to be announced. Stay tuned for updates.

PR0fessor Burnt says:

will it work with OFW 5.50?

jx233 says:

Until a XMB (VSH) usermode exploit for it is found, there is no HEN possible on the PSP-3000. XD

PR0fessor Burnt says:

no 5.50 for psp-2000

or where u even repling to me?

x3sphere says:

It does not work with firmware 5.50 period, only 5.03.

january39 says:

Have SCE blocked that exploit with 5.50 or is it a case of more luck than judgement on their part?

They blocked the gripshift with a minor revision

x3sphere says:

The user exploit does appear to be patched, since the TIFF file used here shows up as "unsupported" under firmware 5.50. The kernel exploit should still be there, but will likely be patched right away once HEN is released.

PR0fessor Burnt says:

damn is there anyway to get down to 5.03?

jx233 says:

I was replying. I forgot about mentioning older models.

Yeah, I have a feeling that s0nY is more excited about the HEN more than everyone else anxiosuly waiting for the HEN.

Depends on your PSP model, if you have a Pandora Battery, then you could go back to whatever version you want. :D

PR0fessor Burnt says:

nah i dont have a pandora battery

hope the fin a way to hack it for 5.50

jx233 says:

I thought you said a long time ago that your PSP was already modded to M33 firmware. :confused1: Did you install Official Firmware?

PR0fessor Burnt says:

i never said that...
