Nintendo demoed the Wii’s very first Pokemon game, Pokemon Battle Revolution, at its Media Summit this week. As one might expect, it is not a traditional Pokemon title, but more so, a continuation of the Pokemon Stadium series which debuted on the N64.

All the action takes place on a picturesque island called Poketopia, which is home to ten massive Colosseums. Your goal is to rise to to the top, win all the Colosseum battles, and become the island’s Poketopia Master.

In addition to being the first Wii game to make use of the DS-Wii connectivity, Pokemon Battle Revolution is also set to become the first Wii game to be playable online through Nintendo’s WiFi connection service. New screenshots can be viewed after the jump.

Looks to be mildly amusing, and also looks to show off some of the graphical power of the Wii.

to use the wii's controller, the player would have to 'throw' the pokeball! :D
