EA has announced that an all-new multiplayer mode dubbed “Don Control” is coming to The Godfather II. It’ll be released as a free downloadable on April 7 and April 10 in North America and Europe, respectively.

Supporting up to 16 players, the added mode blends strategic gameplay into an online environment, allowing players round up their own team of mobsters, then command them in battle while overseeing all the action from a bird’s eye view. Lose as a Don, and you’ll be forced to forfeit cash you’ve made in the single player campaign to opposing syndicates.

Have to admit it is a smart move by EA to make this free, seeing as Capcom recently announced their plans to charge $5 a month for an extra Resident Evil 5 multiplayer mode. Doh.
