Darkworks Exits I Am Alive Development, Duties Transferred To Ubisoft Shanghai

By way of a GI.biz report, word comes that Darkworks has exited development on Ubisoft’s survival title I Am Alive. Helmed by Jade Raymond of Assassin’s Creed fame, the project was initially announced back in late 2008, then as a result of needing additional development time, was later delayed until financial year ending March 2010.
Work on the title has been moved entirely in-house, over to Ubi Shanghai, says a company spokesperson:
In order to respect the new launch date for this ambitious title, and Darkworks having other obligations, we have mutually decided to complete development of I Am Alive at Ubisoft Shanghai, as the two studios have collaborated on aspects of the title over the past year.
The team at Darkworks has respected its contractual obligations on the project and will be a part of the success of the game when it launches.
Ubisoft sure is taking its time on this one, which isn’t much of a surprise, seeing as it is a new IP after all. No word on if it’ll make an E3 appearance at this time.
