Speaking to 1UP, Resident Evil 5 series producer Jun Takeuchi dropped word that Resident Evil 6 will be an revolutionary, not evolutionary jump in the series. Although no further details were spared, Takeuchi assures a reboot is in order.

Does this means the whole Umbrella storyline will be wrapped up in Resi 5 once and for all? Perhaps. Such a move may bring disappoint to longtime fans of the series, but at the same time, a fresh start could do wonders. Then again, what Takeuchi is referring to by reboot could mean anything, like the actual game mechanics.
