id Software’s competitive browser-based shooter Quake Live will finally open its doors to the public next week on February 24, the developer announced today. A closed beta test has been underway for over a year now, with participants having been selected on an invite basis.

The launch of the open beta will be met with a clean slate, as id plans to clear all statistics of current players. Additionally, accounts of closed beta participants who have not logged in the past 28 days will be deleted.
