Sony: 2 Million PSN Accounts Created In Japan

by Mike Bendel on February 20, 2009 @ 10:56 am

The PlayStation Network is growing at an exponential rate. According to statistics obtained by Dengeki Online, two million PSN accounts have been registered in Japan. That’s up from one million last May, which means the virtual headcount on PSN has doubled in less than a year’s time.

Impressive, but the report does not mention if each registration was unique, made on a different PS3 or PSP. As you may well know, many folks create dupe accounts to access content from other regions or share games.

Sony also said at least 700,000 of these accounts are active on a daily basis, with 35 million pieces of content digitally downloaded since launch.

I don't have a PSN account, and I never made one.

I'm on Version 3.52 M33-4, so I don't have access to PS Store. I'm also content with my version, so I don't need to update.
