Alex says:

Great idea, I would of thought you would of used the same layout here over at the downloads section...

I'm going to be using it alot. :)

PR0fessor Burnt says:

pretty sweet love the look :thumbup1:

oh and if u ever update at all maybe add a pc section ???

jx233 says:

Good work x3sphere. I was asking about this lately.

I hope we can make eXophase compete with QJ.Net or Consolespot.

Also, I would like to say, this is so cool! :w00t:

MenaceInc says:

looking pretty good :)

I think a button at the top of the site beside forums would be pretty sweet

angelsniper45 says:

awsome!! no more qj.net for me...

jx233 says:

Same for me. Bye bye QJ.Net. :) The updates they have are good, its just that site is a noob and flamefest community. QJ.Net lacks the "law and order" other homebrew sites have.

PR0fessor Burnt says:

u mean eXophase has

jx233 says:

eXophase already has "law and order", and I'm happy for that. :w00t:

PR0fessor Burnt says:

same here brother

looks like its in digg :O

x3sphere says:

Dugg :) Also thanks for the suggestion, we'll be adding a PC section in the future.

PR0fessor Burnt says:

k kool

EvilSeph says:

Finally, I've been waiting so long for this to go live :)

Excellent work as always, x3 :)

jx233 says:

My suggestion for a good PC download in the future PC section- Project64 emulator.

Darkchild says:

why wasn't this on the news portal? o.o

x3sphere says:

It will be. Wanted to make sure everything was running smooth before posting it on the main page.

B2K24 says:

GREAT WORK x3sphere !!!!!

Very impressive site and the screen shots are beautiful. I love it !!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep up the awesome work. Thanks so much.

No more QJ for me :)

Is there any way to post comments with account from here when viewing the file information on the download site?

I think it would be a cool added feature. People might wanna read comments about a homebrew or theme before downloading and if they had troubles it could be answered right there instead of threads on here and such.

Jake says:

Thanks for this, once its up ill never have to leave exophase for my gaming needs.

Could you add the file size on the downloads page? I always like to know how big things are before I download them.

Oh and for some reason when I click download the page goes to the top and I have to click download again to start it. I'm using firefox on ubuntu.

Sardu says:

awesome. :)

x3sphere says:

Jake: Yeah, file size can be added. That info is already stored in the DB, just will need to find a good place to put it. Is the refresh issue still occurring? Should be fixed, though I've noticed situations where it still can happen... for example if you keep a file info page open, go to another one, then click download on the previous page. Working on fixing that.

B2K24: Good idea, comments will definitely be added in the future. It's already integrated with vBulletin somewhat, so shouldn't be too hard.

Glad everyone is liking it so far :)

jx233 says:

Well, the new handheld Pandora will be coming out, and should there be a section for that?

Jake says:

You could put the size beside the Date Added/Author. The refresh thing was caused for me by opening another file info page after the first.

andychole says:

I'm loving the new page, although I think there could be some minor improvements:

1.) I noticed it said "Downloads Home" at the top beside PSP and PlayStation 3. For me this just looks too big; maybe just putting 'Home', or 'Downloads' in a different colour would make it stand out from the consoles on the top, and look much more simple

2.) In the Firmware Page, the order is really messed up, couldn't you force people to go through categories like you have at the side. So if you went to PSP Firmware you would HAVE to go through either CFW or OFW, it would be more simple to sort out. The order is 5.00 M33-6, 4.01 M33, 4.05. I hope you get what I mean.

Sorry if you think I'm just moaning, I just want this Downloads section to be one of the best out there. And so far I'm loving it! Just some little minor problems. :)

B2K24 says:

There is sorting options on top right of page. If name is picked it sorts CFW and OFW correctly.

andychole says:

"force people to go through categories like you have at the side". I know you can its just if you couldl force people it would it neater

x3sphere says:

Some updates. The "Downloads Home" link at the top has been changed to "Home." I tried using a different color but it detracts from the other links so decided to stick with the white.

The firmware pages are now sorted by name by default. Also, the file size is now displayed on each file information page. Thanks for all the suggestions thus far :)

angelsniper45 says:

when will the actual site be revamped to the new theme?

andychole says:

OMG, thats why I like this website so much! I say things and they get done so quickly. No other websites do changes suggested by a user that fast. I've got to give it to exophase and x3sphere; he is the best in the business. If they were more people like him, this website would be booming!

BTW, how come there's no XBOX 360 downloads?

Is it just me or does the Nintendo DS and PlayStation 3 look too long compared to the Wii and PSP. I think you should shorten them to PS3 and NDS/DS; because if you're going to write long, might as well write PlayStation Portable and Nintendo Wii, and those are just too long

I no it sounds like I'm picky but I want this to be my favourite site for me and for everyone else!

x3sphere says:

Thanks for the compliments :) There isn't an Xbox 360 section yet since very little homebrew exists for it and things like themes are only available via the Live Marketplace. But regardless, I'll probably add a miscellaneous section for it later, as well as lesser known systems.

@angelsniper45: The plan is to redesign the main site once vBulletin 4.0 is released, since they are completely changing the template system in that version. So, probably a couple months from now assuming 4.0 is released on time.

jx233 says:

I'm worried about the new design. Exophase's current layout is so good right now. 8)

x3sphere, may I be a moderator for those new sections?

Jake says:

I think the forums could do with links to the arcade and downloads at the top like the Home, Forums, etc links. Just to make them easier/quicker to get to.

PR0fessor Burnt says:

I agree the layout it really easy but the looks could be upgraded

ya that would be good 2

angelsniper45 says:

i was wondering if itll be possible to upload stuff ourself, so its more community based

Jake says:

If this happens it should have a number of posts requirement to stop spammers.

jx233 says:

Umm.. how about 40 post minimum to gain that priveledge?

january39 says:

I think upload privs should be allowed to Admin or staff approved, otherwise we'll get all kinds of random stuff appearing. In the forums there is a place for apps etc of all kinds to be posted, so if it does well there then possibly be moved to the D/l section.

There's no restriction really (other than Mod) to what can be posted in the forum, so no-one is missing out.

I think the links from the forum to the arcade etc would be a great idea.

x3sphere says:

At the moment a selected group of people have access to upload files. I am considering to open it up to all users but as pointed out, there would most definitely have to be a moderation system in place. Having a post count requirement sounds like the best way to (mostly) eliminate the possibility of bad uploads.

jx233 says:

You should have a restriction on which file formats get uploaded too.

These file formats should be blocked from uploading:

.iso

.cso

.dax

.jso

.cue

.exe

.dll

.app

.prx

.bin

Anyone caught uploading those kind of files should be banned.

MenaceInc says:

I have to disagree with the .exe suggestion.

Don't think I can say at the moment but hopefully x3sphere will know why I'm saying this.

jx233 says:

Updated my blocked file list:

.iso

.cso

.dax

.jso

.zso

.cue

.exe

.dll

.app

.prx

.bin

.rco

.rsc

.psar

.psp

.drm

If those files are uploaded, then the result is ban to whomever uploads them.

And MenaceInc, I think .exe should be blocked because unsafe software could be uploaded.

Acerthief says:

all upload files have to be approved by certain mods and/or admins before you can see it in the dl section. yeah it'll take lots of time but results having good quality.

and the files descriptions have to be detailed like how qj.net >_> does too.

to put it another way, when people upload files, instead of just uploading files and typing in some title, they have to type out a "persuasive" detailed information about the file uploaded, e.g. changelog, features, certain cautions to know before downloading etc.

MenaceInc says:

fair enough but as I said, I have to disagree with it.

With decent moderation and reputable sources, .exe's should be fine.

x3sphere says:

Agreed there isn't much need for a file filter, since each file will need to be approved first before showing up on the site. Not to mention just blocking a certain filetype won't stop malicious users, as they could just rename the extension to something else, or fake the file header.

Anyway I'll still block some of those file types, but .exe will be allowed.

jx233 says:

Yeah, forgot about that. :blushing:

Well, concerning file uploads, should there be a certain file-size limit for certain files?

Example: .pbp can only be up to 32 MB.

.zip can only be up to 110 MB.

And so on.

x3sphere says:

There will probably be a hard limit of 100MB across all files types. I don't really see any homebrew taking more than that.

jx233 says:

So who will monitor the file uploads: Admin and Lead Moderators only or all Exophase Staff?

x3sphere says:

At the moment, the plan is that all staff will have access to the moderation queue.

jx233 says:

Ok, all understood except one thing, can users who got temporarily banned have upload priveledges, or will that be revoked for being banned?

x3sphere says:

It will be revoked permanently. Users that have been banned in the past won't have access at all.

angelsniper45 says:

I'd have to disagree with .prx rco and exe because they are a necisity to psp owners. So what would happen if a user wanted to upload a flash0 theme instead of a ctf? They should have those rights to

salandragomez says:

Great idea to have a separate download section, cheers

But it seems not working on firefox

any suggestion besides using other browsers?

x3sphere says:

It works fine in Firefox, the site was developed in Firefox. What do you mean by it isn't working, is the page not showing up at all? If any extensions are installed make sure they aren't blocking the site.

jx233 says:

Well, that user better put the prxs and rcos into a .zip file.

What I meant before was that the .rco or .prx cannot be uploaded alone.

Also, there is no longer a need to worry about what type of files are uploaded; the Exophase Staff will moderate the file upload area and decide which files can be uploaded or not.

salandragomez says:

Nothing happens when you click the download.

I've done it too without any extensions enabled and its still not working

MenaceInc says:

Just tested downloading the Project 7 CTF theme there using Firefox v3.0.6 and it worked.

It must be something wrong with your configuration or net connection.

x3sphere says:

ah, this will happen if cookies are disabled.

salandragomez says:

This did the trick right, thanks.

i only configured my firefox to allow cookies in forums.exophase.com and thought its okay for all its sub-level domains so i never bother to include the "downloads.exophase.com" and never realize that their both sub-level domains of exophase.com, so my fault.

Anyways, problem solve and thanks all for your help. Keep up:biggrin:

Alex says:

you should add a tab at the top of exophase.com and forums.exophase.com where it says home search and stuff

PR0fessor Burnt says:

its at the top of exophase.co just not the forums

Alex says:

ooooo, i never saw that, i dont visit the main page that often, i go straight to the forums...

PR0fessor Burnt says:

ussualy i do to

Blaze_Fire says:

Wow, it looks great.
